Experience

This was the second time Digital Imaging Technician Dan Carling had worked with Director of Photography Sam Mccurdy, previously on a 35mm feature film, this time for the first Digital collaboration.

Filming was captured in 3D. The ‘A’ camera rig was 2 x RED One cameras mounted in a Large Mirror Paradise FX 3D Rig. The smaller SI2K cameras, again mounted in a 3D rig were utilised for B camera shots, handheld and Steadicam sequences.

Camera ‘Sync checks’ were an essential part of the setup, first in the morning and after lunch to ensure the 2 cameras were perfectly sensor synchronised to allow for smooth 3D.

Dan Carling used a custom built monitor station to monitor Left and Right Eye camera feeds whilst a Data management station handled the RED R3D files and SI2K Camera files.

The SI2K camera rig was controlled via 2 x Mac Book Pros which had there own dedicated trolley that had to be tethered at all times to the camera. A special duel case was designed for the motorbike tracking shots through London.
